KinnCycle®

Jennie, Founder & CEO

"When I founded Kinn in 2017, it was important to create pieces made to last a lifetime, not to end up in a landfill. KinnCycle is an extension of this promise—recycling your old fine jewelry to breathe life into new pieces."
HOW IT WORKS

Recycle Your Old Jewelry With Kinn

Collect 14k solid gold jewelry that you'd like to recycle—it can be from any brand. Please be sure that the jewelry is not gold plated or filled.

Email us at hey@kinnstudio.com with a list and photos of pieces you'd like to send.

We'll reply with a few questions to ensure that we can accept your pieces.
We'll provide you with our shipping address. Send your jewelry to us with an insured label.

When it arrives, we'll melt the gold down to its purest form, making it equal in quality to newly mined gold. Please note that we can lose up to 25% of gold during the process.
We'll email you $30 per gram of melted gold, in the form of a Kinn gift card. Your credit can be used toward any piece on our website, or toward a custom project.

If you'd like us to create a bespoke piece, please fill out our repurpose questionnaire here.

RECYCLED GOLD

In its elemental form, gold is more rare than diamonds. With only a finite number of gold deposits on Earth, we will eventually run out of places to mine it. Further, gold mining causes soil erosion, deforestation, and exposes ecosystems to toxic chemicals like mercury and cyanide.

Recycled gold is created from melted and refined existing jewelry, industrial metals, or electronic components. Once they reach their purest form, they become equal in quality to newly mined metals.
Using recycled gold helps to reduce the demand for newly mined metals, contributing to a circular economy.
The jewelry recycling process starts with looking for impurities in the metal—which are melted off during the refinery process. If the gold has been mixed with other metals, like nickel, the alloys are separated to determine the true karat value of the gold. From there, it can be molded into another piece of jewelry.
