In early 2016, following a burglary at her parents' home, Jennie shopped around in hopes of replacing pieces that were stolen. Jennie realized a customer disconnect and the challenges of shopping for fine jewelry: steep prices and a lack of education. In late 2016 Jennie began metalsmithing classes as a hobby, hoping to make new pieces and recreate her family’s stolen heirlooms. Jennie worked with and learned from the manufacturer Bench Jewelers. Kinn Studio™ was established in October 2017 in downtown Los Angeles.
The first Vintage collection launched in September 2019. The first showroom opened in 2020 in downtown Los Angeles. The Vow collection launched in 2021.
