For Christy Baird, creating LOHO Bride was about offering something the traditional bridal world didn’t: a space that feels personal, fashion-forward, and true to each woman who walks through the door. With an art history background and a sharp editorial eye, she’s built LOHO into one of the most influential bridal destinations, recognized for championing women who want their wedding wardrobes to feel as unique as their love stories. We sat down with her to talk about her inspiration, the process of finding “the one,” and the meaningful details that complete a bride’s look
Q: For those who may not know you yet—who is Christy Baird and what do you do?
A: I’m the Founder and Creative Director of LOHO Bride here in Los Angeles.
Q: Your vision for LOHO Bride has always felt unique and deeply personal. What inspired you to start LOHO, and what did you hope to bring to the bridal world that you felt was missing?
A: I was never inspired by the traditional idea of a wedding, at least not the version that was constantly marketed and celebrated. Everywhere I looked, I saw the same bride in the same gown, following the same set of traditions. While that was perfect for many, it felt completely unrelatable to me.
After attending many weddings in my 20s, I noticed that brides who were also fashion lovers often felt frustrated by the dress shopping experience. They described it as stuffy, impersonal, and lacking individuality. That feedback sparked my curiosity and inspired me to create something different—a space that curated hard-to-find designers and offered access to styles that simply weren’t available elsewhere. In building LOHO, I had women like myself and my friends in mind from the very beginning. Like many businesses, it grew out of solving a personal problem, and LOHO became exactly that for me.
Q: Where do you find inspiration — whether in fashion, art, culture, or beyond — when curating looks for today’s modern bride?
A: With a background in Art History, I draw inspiration from museums, exhibitions, travel, and cultural experiences. But my greatest source of inspiration comes from the women I meet—listening to their stories, learning from their journeys, and celebrating their individuality. It’s an incredible honor to help women feel beautiful every day; I truly consider it my dream purpose.
Q: The process of finding a wedding dress can feel overwhelming. How do you guide someone through that journey toward discovering “the one”?
A: I encourage brides to visualize how they truly see themselves on their wedding day. While there are countless incredible gowns to choose from, the most important thing is recognizing yourself in the dress and feeling confident that it reflects your personal style. It’s essential to quiet outside opinions because at the end of the day, you’re the one wearing the gown and cherishing those photos for a lifetime, not your friends. Choosing a wedding dress is a deeply personal decision, and it deserves to be made with intention.
Q: When styling a bride’s full look, jewelry often plays such a meaningful role. How do you think about pairing pieces like Kinn’s with bridal fashion to tell a complete story?
A: At LOHO, we’re known for curating a modern, refined aesthetic, which makes thoughtful styling—whether through layering or mixing textures—an essential part of completing the look. Kinn’s pieces pair beautifully with our brides because they add polish and sophistication without overpowering. Each design feels effortless yet intentional, striking that balance of elegance without excess. What I love most is that they’re true heirloom pieces that can be worn long after the wedding day and, perhaps, passed down to future generations.
Q: Looking back, what moments with clients have stayed with you — the ones that remind you why you created LOHO in the first place?
A: This is such a tough question, but one of the most memorable and rewarding parts of the experience has to be receiving the countless wedding photos and heartfelt thank-you notes. Hearing brides say that we were the only store that “made them feel seen” is incredibly moving. The hugs we receive when a bride recognizes the care and attention we put into her order are equally unforgettable. It’s such a beautiful process, and being able to play a part in it is truly a privilege.
